Your account and handle
Signing up with a passkey or with Google, what a handle can be, and what changes when you change it.
Signing up
There are two ways in, and neither of them asks you to invent a password. sizuq has no password sign-in at all.
- A passkey — the fingerprint, face or screen lock your device already uses. You pick a handle, confirm with your device, and you are in. No email address is required.
- Google — one tap, and your email arrives already confirmed.
A passkey account starts with no email address on file. That is deliberate: sizuq does not need one to work. It does have one consequence worth knowing about, which is the next section.
Why you may still want an email address
An account with no confirmed email address is held to a much lower publishing rate — one drop an hour and three a day, on every plan. It is a spam control, and it lifts the moment you add and confirm an address in Settings → Account.
The second reason is recovery. A passkey lives on your devices. If you lose all of them and have no address on file, there is no way back into the account.

Your handle is your address in three places at once: your profile at sizuq.com, the name of your first garden, and the subdomain it is served from. Picking one settles all three.

The shape is not arbitrary. Your handle becomes a hostname, and a hostname may only carry those characters — an underscore in it would produce an address no certificate can be issued for, which fails long after the account looks fine.
Changing it later
You can change your handle from your profile settings. It is not a cosmetic change: your first garden is renamed with you, in the same moment, so the two never disagree.
- Your profile moves to the new address.
- Your first garden's address moves with it, and a certificate for the new subdomain is issued.
- Links pointing at the old address stop working. sizuq does not hold the old handle for you, and someone else may take it.
