Filling an orbit
Link rows, section headings, thumbnails, the social icon row, and putting a link on a schedule.
A link
Each row is a title and an address, and everything else about it is optional.
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Title | The words on the row. Up to 120 characters. |
| Address | Where it leads. Opens in a new tab unless you say otherwise. |
| Description | A line under the title, when the title alone is not enough. Up to 200 characters. |
| Thumbnail | A small picture on the row. |
| Featured | Draws the row with more weight than the ones around it. |
Sections
A section heading is a row with no address: a label that groups the links beneath it. Music, Writing, Shop — whatever divides your links into things a visitor can scan rather than read.
A heading with nothing under it is not drawn. You can leave one in place while you decide what belongs there, and it will simply not appear until it has something to introduce.
Putting a link on a schedule
A link can be given a window of dates. Outside it, the link is absent — not greyed out, not hidden by the browser, but genuinely not sent to the page at all.
- Set both dates for a run with a beginning and an end, like a tour or a sale.
- Set only the start date to have something appear on the day and stay.
- Set only the end date to have something drop away on its own.
